The whistlers will be separating off soon to nest so if I seem like I'm 'front-loading' my blog with photos of them, maybe I am. I will miss the flocks until they gather again in fall before their migration south.
Heard all sorts of hell-raising going on outside one afternoon - black-bellied whistling ducks just whistling, scolding and calling. Went out to the front yard and saw a whole flock of them sitting high amongst the locust tree limbs, just yammering at each other. Appears some new arrivals joined the others at Run*A*Round as I later counted 22 whistlers here at one time. They're quite vocal in their greetings. Here's a few images of these silly ducks.
